“When President Harris and I took a virtual tour of a vaccination site in Arizona … .” — President Joe Biden gaffe, March 18, 2021

“I took it to instill public confidence in the vaccine. President-elect Harris took hers today for the same reason.” — Biden unintentionally elevating Kamala Harris to POTUS-elect #47, December 2020

There are an unfortunate few, who draw a perverted sense of cruel joy from President Joe Biden three times slipping on the staircase to Air Force One. Almost DailyBrett finds absolutely no humor from this unfortunate reminder that Biden is the nation’s oldest president, his advanced age (78) and his diminishing skill sets.

If anything, Biden’s gaffes, verbal struggles and physical stumbles are a vivid reminder of the presence of the 25th amendment in our Constitution. Amendment XXV calls for the vice president to become the nation’s chief executive, if the president perishes, becomes incapacitated and can no longer serve. The new president (e.g., Kamala Harris) can then name her own successor as vice president (e.g., Elizabeth Warren).

Your author is reminded of the accidental Presidency of Gerald Ford. The 25th Amendment was twice employed: First when Ford was named Vice President in 1973 (replacing Spiro Agnew), and Second when he became President (Richard Nixon resigned) the following year.

Ford was also infamous for his stumbles on the stairs to Air Force One even though he was once a football stud at the University of Michigan. Biden’s falls bring back those almost-long-forgotten memories. More importantly they raise fresh concerns.

The Spectre of Kamala

The Vice Presidency “is not worth a bucket of warm spit.” — FDR Vice President John “Cactus Jack” Nance Garner

“I don’t believe you are a racist.” — Kamala Harris debating Joe Biden, June 27, 2019

Can’t tell you how many times Almost DailyBrett has been told that Biden is a “moderate.” Really?

Please explain how Biden could select Kamala Harris as his running mate and still be considered middle of the road? Her ruthless presence, literally one-Joe Biden-heart beat away from the White House, raises the frightening spectre of mean Kamala Harris in the Oval Office.

The most important choice that Biden has made to date was the selection of Kamala as his running mate. He could have chosen measured-and-proven Janet Yellen, and reassured the business community and global markets based upon her previous successful experience as the chair of the Federal Reserve.

If he had not restricted his choice to one gender, Biden could have selected former Stanford football star, Newark mayor and New Jersey Senator Cory Booker for the job. Similar to Kamala, Cory is a person of color but without her baggage

Almost DailyBrett will never forget how Kamala said she “didn’t believe” Biden was a racist, thus linking his name with the most divisive of all charged words. Kamala knew she could cunningly affix this explosive imprimatur to Biden, while maintaining 100 percent deniability.

She voted against a Federal District Court Judge Brian Buescher because the Catholic jurist was a member of the subversive Knights of Columbus. She supports Medicare for All, and has spoken passionately about forced busing and slavery reparations.

Many were justifiably concerned when Dan Quayle became vice president or when faced with the possibilities of John Edwards or Sarah Palin being placed literally one heartbeat away from John Kerry or John McCain respectively.

Your author winced more than a few times when Donald Trump employed vicious rhetoric from the bully pulpit of the Presidency. He will be forever linked to the capitol riot this past January 6.

The good news was that Vice President Mike Pence served as his running mate with a high degree of competence and without a mean bone in his body.

Cactus Jack was wrong. The Vice Presidency is indeed much more than a bucket of warm spit (language was cleaned up).

Almost DailyBrett is afraid when it comes to the spectre of Kamala Harris in the White House, very afraid.

To your good health for the next four years President Biden. Stay very well. Please.
